Jesse Quick - Program Coordinator
About
Jesse Quick has spent the last decade nurturing and guiding young minds as a middle and high school English teacher. His teaching career began in the vibrant and culturally rich Greater New Orleans area, where he inspired students not only through his classroom instruction but also by leading various clubs such as yearbook, Dungeons and Dragons, and poetry. Jesse’s commitment to his students’ growth and development eventually led him to Minnesota, where he continues to make a significant impact on the educational community.
Jesse is known for his ability to connect with young people, fostering their social and emotional growth alongside their academic achievements. He has a knack for creating value-centered educational experiences that are both engaging and fun, ensuring that learning is not just a task but an enjoyable journey. Jesse’s skills in leading youth through interactive and enriching activities have made him a beloved figure among his students and colleagues alike.
Among Jesse’s notable achievements are his accolades in poetry, including winning the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational and being a National Poetry Slam Finalist. He has also excelled in the classroom, with his students achieving the highest scores in English readiness tests over two consecutive years. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jesse is celebrated by his family for his culinary skills, particularly his hamburgers, which his wife and son claim to be the best in the world.
Jesse’s interests extend beyond the classroom. He is an avid writer, having penned three novels and numerous poems, both for page and performance. His hobbies include cooking, 3D printing, and engaging in various “nerdy” activities like painting miniatures and playing Dungeons and Dragons. He enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hiking and snowboarding whenever possible. Jesse’s unique hitchhiker thumbs, his time living in Belgium, and his passion for creating a supportive environment for young people add to the rich tapestry of his life. Happily married to his wife Destiny, with whom he shares an 11-year-old son named Evan, Jesse resides in Duluth with their dog Jasper and cat Oliver.
