About
Holly Hansen is the Community Development Director for the City of Cloquet. The Community Development Department works with residents, businesses, developers, and other private and public entities to promote a safe, desirable, and economically viable environment for the citizens and businesses of Cloquet. The core functions of the Community Development Department are to provide building inspections and housing code compliance, planning, zoning, and subdivision of land services, and economic development services. Holly specializes in economic development and takes an active role in attracting new business to the community, retaining existing businesses, assisting businesses with expansion, and enabling rehabilitation and/or redevelopment within the community.
The Community Development Director serves as the point of contact and staff support for the Cloquet Economic Development Authority.
The Cloquet Business Park is located north of the St. Louis River on Highway 33 and Stark Road which is approximately four miles north of I-35. The business park has 60 acres of developable lots remaining configured in the form of 43 different lots for Office/Manufacturing. These lots range in size from 1 – 2.5 acres and multiple lots can be acquired. The utility infrastructure in the business park is fully developed with pavement, curb and gutter, city water and sewer, natural gas, electric, and phone. A recent marketing study has identified that Cloquet is prime for growth in Transportation Distribution and Agribusiness sectors.
The Building Official reviews building plans and permit applications, issues building permits, and conducts a wide range of field inspections to ensure compliance with State and local building, property maintenance, and zoning codes.
City Planner serves as the point of contact and staff support for the Cloquet Planning Commission and oversees the City’s implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and specific zoning and subdivision ordinances that make up the Comprehensive Plan.
